Outdoor Extended Family Session with the Gingrich Family

We inherit from our ancestors gifts so often taken for granted. Each of us contains within this inheritance of soul. We are links between the ages, containing past and present expectations, sacred memories and future promise.” – Edward Sellner

When this family reached out to me to shoot this session, I was beyond excited to capture such a family treasure. Charlie & Joe (father & son) shared much of the home’s history with me. This home dates back to the late 1700s and is on Pennsylvania’s registry of historical homes. Located just outside of the town of East Petersburg in Lancatser County, this stunning farm house is set on such a peaceful spot with an incredible sunporch that I was told the matriarch of the family spent many hours setting upon.

Unfortunately, as time goes on; families evolve and homes pass hands. When the family matriarch passed, this home went on the market and is set to change hands in the coming months. However, Jenn wanted to capture some of the magic of their family home before it was no longer their own.

As I was taking their pictures, I could just imagine all the fun and memories made on the property. Ivy draped stone walls and an old outdoor furnace. The sun shone brightly down through the old, wide trees. I can just picture the family gatherings hosted. The laughter. And it was my absolutely goal to capture not only their beautiful family, but also the special details of this magical place.

I am truly so grateful to be invited to capture these pieces of family history. Photographs and stories are the only thing we have to pass on to future generations. You can’t know where you’re going without knowing where you came from. <3
