Those early days with a newborn feel like living in a sweet, sleepy bubble. You’re learning each other, finding rhythms, & soaking up that fresh-baby smell every chance you get. It’s a big decision to document that time, and the first question most parents ask is…
Should we do our newborn photos in the studio or at home?
There’s no wrong answer, but there is a best fit for your family. As a newborn photographer serving York PA and the surrounding Central PA area, here’s how I help parents decide.
Studio Newborn Sessions
Perfect for families who want:
• Cozy, timeless, neutral images
• A clean, polished look without distractions
• Everything handled for them
• To just show up and relax

In the studio, I take care of:
✓ Outfits + wraps
✓ Styling + props
✓ Temperature control
✓ Lighting
✓ All the soothing + posing
You can literally just arrive with your baby and enjoy watching the magic happen.
In-Home Newborn Sessions
Perfect for families who want:
• A personal, documentary feel
• Favorite spaces included (nursery, master bedroom)
• Minimal disruption to postpartum recovery
• A lifestyle vibe with lots of snuggles

These sessions are relaxed and baby-led. I use your home as a backdrop, focusing on connection more than posing.
What if our house isn’t “Pinterest perfect”?
Totally normal. Homes are made to be lived in, especially with a newborn. I’ll find the best pockets of natural light and guide you through everything. Your love—not your decor—is what matters.

Which is best for your baby?
Here’s a quick cheat sheet:
| If you want… | Choose… |
|---|---|
| A calm, posing-focused session | Studio |
| A personal story in your home | In-home |
| Perfect lighting and controlled environment | Studio |
| Big siblings / pets easily included | In-home |
| Minimal prep | Studio |
| Meaningful, documentary style | In-home |
Some families even choose both… maternity in home + newborn in studio… or vice versa.
Safety always comes first
I’m trained in newborn safety and handle every pose with care whether we’re in the studio or your home. Your baby’s comfort and security drives every decision we make.

What about travel?
I serve families throughout York, Red Lion, Dallastown, Shrewsbury, and the surrounding Central PA area. If you’re not sure if I travel to you, just ask.
My honest opinion?
If you love a clean, soft, editorial look…
Studio is your best match.
If you want your story told exactly where it’s unfolding…
In-home is perfect for you.
Either way, you get warmth, emotion, and those tiny details preserved forever.

FAQ: Newborn Sessions in York PA
Do you offer newborn sessions in York PA?
Yes. I regularly serve families throughout York, Red Lion, Dallastown, and the surrounding Central PA area. You can choose either an in-home session or come to my cozy studio just a short drive away in Etters.
Is your studio close to York?
Very! My studio is around 20–25 minutes from most of York, right off I-83. It’s an easy drive and perfect if you want that clean, classic newborn look without prepping your home.
What if my house doesn’t get great natural light?
No problem. I’m trained to find the best pockets of light in any home, and I bring extra lighting if needed. You don’t need a “Pinterest house” for beautiful in-home photos.
Can siblings and pets be part of the photos?
Definitely. In-home newborn sessions are especially great for including big siblings and furry family members. If pets get excited or need a break, they can relax in another room while we keep going.
How do you keep babies safe during sessions?
Safety is always the priority. I’m trained in safe newborn posing and carefully support baby at all times whether we’re in your home or at the studio. No risky poses or shortcuts—ever.
How far in advance should we book if we live in York?
Most York families book in their second trimester to save a spot on my calendar. After baby arrives, we’ll lock in your session date when you’re home and settled.
