Those first few weeks with a new baby are such a blur. You’re learning your baby’s tiny expressions, adjusting to a completely different routine, and probably operating on significantly less sleep than you’d prefer.
Your newborn session shouldn’t add more stress to that season.
My newborn sessions are designed to be relaxed, baby-led, and focused on creating timeless images of your newest little person—and your family together.
I specialize in newborn photography and have photographed hundreds of babies over the years. I’m also a NAPCP Master Photographer in Newborn Photography, with extensive experience in newborn posing and safety.
Whether your baby sleeps through the entire session or decides they have absolutely no intention of sleeping that day, that’s okay. We follow their lead.
Is It Worth Traveling From Reading for Newborn Photos?
I get it. Driving anywhere with a newborn can feel like an adventure all by itself.
But choosing your newborn photographer is a little different than choosing the closest coffee shop.
Your baby will only be this tiny once, and these are photographs you’ll have long after the newborn stage is over. If you’ve found a photographer whose work feels like you, traveling a little farther can absolutely be worth it.
My studio in Etters is approximately an hour from the Reading and Wyomissing area, depending on where you’re coming from.
Once you arrive, everything is ready for you. My studio is designed specifically with babies and families in mind, so you can settle in while I take care of the rest.
What Is Included in a Studio Newborn Session?
My studio newborn sessions include much more than photographs of your baby alone.
We’ll create a gallery that tells the story of your family during this season, including images of your newborn, parents with baby, siblings, and different combinations of your family.
I keep my newborn work soft, timeless, and focused on your baby rather than elaborate props or heavily themed setups. The goal is for your photographs to still feel beautiful hanging in your home years from now.
You’ll also have access to my client closet and a carefully selected collection of wraps and other pieces that photograph beautifully, so you don’t need to show up with a suitcase full of newborn outfits and props.
When Should You Book Your Newborn Photographer?
The best time to book your newborn session is before your baby arrives.
I typically recommend reaching out during your second or early third trimester. We reserve your session based on your due date and then choose the actual session date once baby arrives.
Newborn sessions are generally photographed when babies are around 7–21 days old. That gives us the best opportunity for those sleepy, curled-up newborn photographs while still allowing some flexibility based on baby’s arrival and how everyone is doing.
Because I take a limited number of newborn sessions each month, reaching out early is especially important if you already know you’d like me to photograph your baby.
What If You’d Rather Have Newborn Photos at Home?
I also offer lifestyle newborn sessions in clients’ homes.
These sessions have a different feel than studio newborn photography. Instead of focusing primarily on posed newborn portraits, in-home sessions document your family in your own space—the nursery you spent months putting together, snuggling on your bed or couch, siblings loving on their new baby, and all of those little everyday moments.
For families in Reading, Wyomissing, and other areas farther from my home base, in-home newborn sessions may be available with an additional travel fee based on location.
