When Should You Book Your Newborn Photos in Camp Hill PA?

One of the most common questions I get from expecting parents is:

“When should we book our newborn session?”

And the answer honestly surprises a lot of people.

The best time to book your newborn photographer is actually while you’re still pregnant, ideally during your second trimester or early third trimester.

If your baby is due in August, September, or October, May is the perfect time to reach out and reserve your spot.

Why Book Before Baby Arrives?

Newborn photography is a little different from other types of sessions because babies don’t exactly arrive on a predictable schedule. Some come early, some come late, and some make everyone wait far past their due date.

Because of that, I don’t book newborn sessions on a fixed date months in advance.

Instead, I pencil your due date onto my calendar and only take a limited number of newborns each month so I can stay flexible once babies arrive. After your little one is here, we officially schedule your session within those first couple of weeks, typically between 7-21 days old.

Booking ahead ensures I have room for your family during that season.

Those First Few Weeks Go Fast

There’s something so fleeting about the newborn stage.

The tiny curled-up stretches. The flaky little toes. The way they fit perfectly against your chest. The sleepy snuggles in the middle of the night that somehow already feel nostalgic while you’re living them.

Those details change incredibly quickly.

While beautiful newborn images can absolutely still happen with older babies, those first 7-21 days tend to be the sweet spot for the sleepy, snuggly portraits most parents picture when they think about newborn photography.

A Stress-Free Experience for Busy Parents

One of the biggest things my clients tell me is how relieved they are to not have to figure everything out themselves.

My studio is fully stocked with wraps, neutral outfits, simple props, and a carefully curated client closet for moms. I guide you through the entire process so you never have to worry about posing, what to bring, or whether your kids are “behaving perfectly.”

You simply show up with your baby and I handle the rest.

Whether you choose an in-studio newborn session or an in-home lifestyle session, my goal is always the same:
to create timeless, connected images while making the experience feel calm and easy during a season that can otherwise feel overwhelming.
