Gettysburg, PA Newborn Photographer | Relaxed, Timeless Newborn Photos

If you’re searching for a Gettysburg, PA newborn photographer, chances are you’re already thinking about all the little details you want to remember once your baby arrives—the tiny fingers, sleepy stretches, wrinkly toes, and just how small they looked in your arms.

Those details change unbelievably fast.

I specialize in newborn photography for families throughout Central Pennsylvania, including Gettysburg, New Oxford, Littlestown, and the surrounding Adams County area. Families can choose between a full studio newborn experience at my Etters, PA studio or a relaxed lifestyle newborn session in the comfort of their own home.

Both are designed around the same thing: creating beautiful, timeless photographs of your baby and your family without expecting your newborn to follow a schedule or perform for the camera.

Newborn Photography for Gettysburg, PA Families

Newborn sessions are one of my favorite things to photograph because no two babies—or families—are exactly alike.

Some newborns arrive and sleep through nearly everything. Others want extra snuggles, feeding breaks, or have absolutely no interest in sleeping.

That’s okay.

My sessions are baby-led, which means we allow plenty of time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and snuggles as needed. Your baby’s comfort and safety always come before getting a particular photograph.

I’ve photographed hundreds of newborns over the years and am a NAPCP Master Photographer in Newborn Photography, with extensive experience in newborn posing and safety.

You don’t need to worry about whether your baby is going to “cooperate.” That’s my job.

Studio Newborn Photography Near Gettysburg

For families who love posed newborn portraits, my Etters studio offers a full newborn photography experience.

Studio sessions allow us to create those sleepy, carefully posed portraits that capture just how tiny your baby is during those first few weeks. We’ll also photograph parents, siblings, and your family together, so your gallery tells more of the story than baby-only portraits.

My newborn style is soft and timeless, with an emphasis on your baby rather than elaborate props or trendy setups.

You’ll also have access to my collection of newborn wraps, accessories, and carefully selected pieces for your session, along with my client closet.

That means there’s no need to buy a pile of newborn outfits or figure out how you’re going to coordinate every little detail before your session.

In-Home Newborn Photography in Gettysburg, PA

If packing everyone into the car during those first few weeks sounds like the last thing you want to do, I also offer in-home newborn photography in Gettysburg and surrounding areas.

In-home sessions have a more relaxed, lifestyle feel.

Instead of creating primarily posed newborn portraits, we’ll document your family where you’re spending most of those early days together—snuggling on the bed, rocking your baby in the nursery, cuddling on the couch, or letting an older sibling love on their new baby brother or sister.

And no, your house does not need to look like it belongs in a magazine.

Good natural light and a few uncluttered spaces are usually all we need. I can help determine which areas of your home will photograph best once I arrive.

These sessions are especially meaningful if you’ve spent months creating a nursery or simply want photographs that preserve what life actually looked and felt like when your baby first came home.

Studio or In-Home Newborn Photos: Which Should You Choose?

There’s really no wrong answer. They’re simply two different experiences.

If you love sleepy, posed baby portraits and want more variety in baby-focused images, you’ll probably love a studio newborn session.

If you’re drawn to connection, movement, snuggles, and photographs that incorporate your home, an in-home newborn session may feel more like you.

Some families immediately know which style they prefer. If you’re torn between the two, looking through full newborn galleries can help you see the difference and decide which photographs you can picture yourself wanting years from now.

When Should You Book Your Newborn Session?

I recommend booking your newborn photographer before your baby arrives, ideally during your second or early third trimester.

You don’t need to know exactly when your baby will be born.

We’ll reserve your due date on my calendar and schedule the actual session after your baby arrives. Newborn sessions are generally photographed when babies are around 7–21 days old.

Booking based on your due date allows me to keep enough flexibility in my schedule for babies who decide to arrive earlier or later than expected.

Because I intentionally accept a limited number of newborn sessions each month, reaching out during pregnancy is the best way to make sure I have room around your due date.

What About Older Siblings?

Please bring them!

Welcoming a new baby isn’t just a huge milestone for parents. It’s a pretty big deal for a brand-new big brother or sister, too.

Sibling photographs are included in full newborn sessions, and I keep my expectations realistic—especially with toddlers.

They don’t need to sit perfectly still, hold the baby flawlessly, and smile directly at the camera.

We’ll work with their age and personality to create sibling photographs safely. Sometimes the sweetest images happen when we stop asking little kids to “smile” and simply let them interact with their new baby.

Choosing a Gettysburg, PA Newborn Photographer

When you’re comparing newborn photographers, look beyond individual images on social media.

Take some time to look at the photographer’s overall style and experience. Do you like their family images as much as their baby portraits? How do they photograph siblings? Does their editing style feel like something you’ll still love years from now?

Newborn photography also involves handling and posing a very tiny baby, so experience and newborn safety should be an important part of your decision.

Ultimately, you should choose someone whose work feels like your family and whose approach makes you feel comfortable handing them your brand-new baby.
